| | | Overcoming Enshittification:Create Content for People, Not Platforms |
|
| | Merriam-Webster Dictionary recently highlighted the word ‘enshittification,’ coined by writer Cory Doctorow. The slang word, of course, caught my attention. Organizational psychologist Adam Grant argues, “a little profanity shows that you’re being real and you do give a damn.”
My conclusion? Anyone bold enough to name a problem ‘enshittification’ is serious about it.

| Can you get fired for talking about politics at work—or for what you post on social media after hours? The answer isn’t always clear. To learn why, join Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization for its Lunch and Learn, Social Media, Free Speech and the Workplace, on November 18 at 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Randy Bobbitt, retired professor and author of “Free Speech in the American Workplace: From the Dawn of Workers’ Rights to the Age of Social Media,” will unpack what the law says (and doesn’t say) about workplace expression. He’ll explore how social media, politics, and personal opinion intersect—and what that means for today’s professional communicators. |
