Frame Gallery Gifts and Art’s Third Annual Nativity Exhibition is back—with a beautiful new addition: an expanded display of religious icons – on Friday, December 19, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a unique selection of pieces from community members’ private collections, along with nativities and icons available for purchase. The featured Christian icon writers include Sr. Eliseea Papacioc, a Romanian Orthodox nun represented by Frame Gallery, and local artist Martha Keeble, who teaches icon writing in Sewanee and the surrounding area.

“Frame Gallery has been representing Sr. Eliseea Papacioc for over 10 years, selling and commissioning her icons. She follows the Romanian Orthodox tradition of icon writing, and visitors will see that, along with the other icons exhibited, they serve as more than simply religious paintings, but as windows into the divine,” said Frame Gallery Owner, Harriet Runkle. “It is rare to see so many unique nativities and icons from various cultures in one place, and it promises to be a meaningful and beautiful evening.”
