Page Schley (L) & Connie Keetle (R)
Frame Gallery Gifts and Art will present “Side by Side: Page Schley and Connie Kettle, A Mother-Daughter Exhibition” from October 2 through October 31, 2026. A reception for the Sewanee-based artists will be held Friday, October 9, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Frame Gallery, located at 12569 Sollace M. Freeman Highway in downtown Sewanee, Tenn.
The exhibition brings together floral and landscape paintings by mother and daughter, with work ranging from abstract to realistic. Their materials include acrylics, oils, walnut ink, and Dr. Ph. Martin’s Tech Drawing Ink.
Page Schley, born Apphia Page Anderson Schley, studied art, archaeology, and education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Art and a love of nature have remained part of her life through years of painting, art workshops, and exploring other creative pursuits. Flowers are a particular focus of her work. As Schley explains, “My body needs to radiate; flowers express this feeling. In the flower bursts the universe.”
Connie Keetle grew up surrounded by her mother’s art and their shared love of nature. She studied art in college and began painting while raising her own children, taking workshops that helped shape her artistic path. After many years of living apart, mother and daughter are now side by side in Sewanee and in Frame Gallery’s exhibition.
“Watching Page and Connie put this show together has been such a pleasure. The three of us designed the framing for the artwork, Connie framed every piece, and we’ll hang the show together. Being part of that process makes this exhibition especially meaningful to me,” said Harriet Runkle, owner of Frame Gallery
"Side by Side" will be on view at Frame Gallery Gifts and Art in downtown Sewanee during regular gallery hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through October 31. For more information on the upcoming exhibit, reception, and the artists, click below.
